FAQ

    • Woven fabrics are made by interlacing two sets of yarns at right angles. They are stable, durable and have little natural stretch; examples include cotton shirting, denim and linen. Because they hold their shape, wovens are widely used for structured garments such as shirts, trousers and jackets.

    • Knit fabrics are formed by looping a continuous yarn, giving them elasticity and a soft hand. Knits stretch in multiple directions and offer a comfortable, form‑fitting feel. They are ideal for T‑shirts, leggings, activewear and other garments that require flexibility.

Our factory works with both woven and knit fabrics, including specialty materials like performance blends and seamless knits.

  • A Tech Pack (technical package) is a set of specification sheets prepared by the designer to explain the garment to a factory. It includes flat sketches, bill of materials (fabrics, trims and hardware), measurements, size gradings, construction details and colorways. Factories rely on the Tech Pack as a blueprint; without it, they cannot provide accurate price quotes or timelines. A well‑prepared Tech Pack:

    • Reduces sampling iterations and speeds up production .

    • Helps estimate cost and avoid miscommunication.

    • Improves fit by using standardized measurements.

    • Serves as a reference for quality control and collaboration.

We can help you develop or refine your Tech Pack to ensure a smooth production process.

  • The MOQ is the smallest number of units a factory is willing to produce in one run. Many overseas clothing manufacturers have high MOQs that may not suit startups. MOQs exist because of:

    • Economies of scale – larger runs spread fixed costs such as set‑up and pattern making across more units.

    • Fabric and trim procurement – suppliers often sell fabrics and notions in bulk, so factories need a minimum volume to order materials.

    • Production efficiency and quality – The factory set up time for a small run vs. a large run of production is the same. Producing higher quantities allows the factory to increase process efficiencies and work in a more streamlined manner.

Stateless offers a low MOQ of 300 pieces per style, making it easier for new brands to launch without large upfront inventories.

  • Yes. Before starting production, it is advisable to create a prototype to evaluate fit, fabric and construction. Many manufacturers, including ours, provide sample development to help refine the design. Prototyping ensures the finished garment meets your expectations and can identify issues before committing to a full run.

  • Production timelines vary depending on complexity, fabric availability and season. Our factory generally requires 20–45 days from sample approval to bulk completion . We operate eight production lines and 240 workstations in our WRAP‑accredited factory, giving us a monthly capacity of 50,000 units .

Allow additional time for sample development, material sourcing and international shipping. Starting earlier helps you accommodate design changes and avoid delays.

  • Many manufacturers request a 50% deposit to start production and the remaining balance when goods are ready to exit the factory. Some suppliers offer an open account (O/A) for companies with strong credit; in this arrangement, the balance may be paid 30–60 days after shipment . Payment terms may vary, so clarify them during negotiation.

  • Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is an independent, non‑profit social compliance certification for apparel factories. The program is based on 12 principles covering labor laws, prohibition of forced or child labor, harassment, compensation, working hours, discrimination, health and safety, freedom of association, environmental management, customs compliance and security. WRAP certification demonstrates that a facility upholds ethical and humane manufacturing practices.

Stateless’s factory in Zhongshan City is WRAP‑accredited, giving clients confidence that their products are made in a safe and ethical environment.

  • Ethical manufacturing ensures fair pay, safe working conditions and respect for workers’ rights . Sustainable manufacturing reduces environmental impact by conserving water and energy, using eco‑friendly materials and minimizing waste . Core principles include:

  • The apparel manufacturing process combines creative design and industrial assembly. A typical workflow includes:

    • Product design and material choice – designers choose the garment style, colors and fabrics to meet functional requirements.

    • Fabric selection and inspection – fabric suppliers are chosen; the material is inspected for defects before cutting.

    • Pattern making and grading – a pattern is drafted from the design; grading adjusts the pattern for different sizes.

    • Sample development – sample makers create the first garment from the pattern to test fit, fabric, colour and overall design. The sample is refined and approved before bulk production begins.

    • Marker making and spreading – markers lay out pattern pieces to maximize fabric usage. The fabric is spread in layers ready for cutting.

    • Cutting and bundling – layers of fabric are cut according to the marker, then bundled by size and style.

    • Sewing (assembly) – skilled sewers assemble the cut pieces. This stage may include seam bonding or other specialized techniques (see below).

    • Pressing, finishing and details – garments are pressed, labels and trims are applied, and any dyeing or washing is completed.

    • Quality control – a final inspection checks dimensions, stitching quality and functionality.

    • Packaging and shipping – finished garments are folded or hung, packaged and shipped to the customer.

Our factory supports both cut-and-sew and seamless production methods and can manage the full workflow—from sampling to finished product.

  • Cut‑and‑sew manufacturing is a method where fabric is cut into custom pattern pieces and then sewn together to create a finished garment . Unlike pre‑made blanks used in print‑on‑demand, cut‑and‑sew allows you to design every panel and fit detail. The process often divides the garment into sections, allowing precise control over fabrication and design.

    Cut‑and‑sew factories may operate as:

    • CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) – The factory cuts and sews garments using fabric and trims supplied by the client. The brand is responsible for sourcing materials and providing patterns .

    • Full‑package production (FPP) – A full‑service factory handles fabric sourcing, pattern making, printing or embroidery, grading, sampling, production, packaging and shipping.

Stateless offers custom cut‑and‑sew production with a low 300‑piece minimum order quantity and can provide both CMT and full‑package services.

  • Seamless manufacturing uses specialized circular knitting machines to knit a garment as a single piece, eliminating side seams. This technology creates a smooth, comfortable fit that reduces chafing. Benefits include:

    • Improved comfort and fit due to the absence of bulky seams.

    • Enhanced durability and a sleek, streamlined appearance.

    • Less waste and shorter production times because fabric pieces don’t need to be cut or sewn.

Seamless garments often use synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester and spandex, though cotton blends can also be knit. Each project’s minimum order quantity is evaluated individually.

  • Seam bonding uses heat and pressure to fuse fabric layers together with seam tape, creating a sealed seam without stitches. The process involves preparing the fabric, applying heat‑sensitive tape, bonding with specialized machines, and cooling. Benefits include:

    • Durability and water resistance – bonded seams resist wear and provide a smooth barrier against moisture.

    • Sleek appearance and comfort – no stitch lines or bulky seam allowances.

    • Efficient production – reduces sewing operations for certain garment styles.

However, bonding equipment is expensive, may require special maintenance, and not all fabrics can be bonded; bonded garments often need special care . Stateless integrates seam and laser bonding alongside conventional sewing to achieve high‑performance finishes.
